Background
In order to better understand whether an e-portfolio could make the assessment process more efficient, South Thames carried out a pilot using VQManager.
The Project
The learners in question were completing an NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration. The pilot ran for a period of 2 months, during which learners were encouraged to use the e-portfolio as much as possible to record their evidence.
Outcomes
In a post-project interview, the lead Assessor made the following observations:
- Whilst actually assessing evidence, Assessors seemed to be able to save about 25% of their time through using VQManager. It was clearly a figure that would vary from case to case, but the potential to reduce time spent travelling was enormous.
- It was felt that Internal Verifiers could make the biggest time savings at around 40% reduction.
- It was unlikely that the college would be able to attain its intended growth in WBL delivery if it did not embrace the VQManager system.
