July ’20 – Creative ideas for maintaining learner progress

Speaking at the SCTP virtual conference today (160720), Dr Richard Beynon of OFSTED provided some very interesting perspectives around the ways in which providers have reacted to the challenges of Covid.

Faced with the prospect of learners who would be unable to attend their usual places of learning or work, some providers have been showing real ingenuity. This ranges from hairdressing students being sent mannequin heads to practice on, to fashion design students being sent a Barbie doll with a brief to design certain garments for her.

These are just two examples of providers who have been thinking really creatively, but whatever their approach, they have enabled their learners to stay engaged and make genuine progress.
